Timely Neuropathy Testing is making products available that aide in the early detection and management of neuropathy such as diabetes and other peripheral nerve problems.  We provide Semmes-Weinstein Monofilaments for early detection of peripheral neuropathy before changes become established, reversal of sensory and muscle change if possible, and prevention of disability for those who already have established impairment.

Timely Neuropathy Testing understands early intervention can be enhanced through patient recognition of early changes in the nerves, and professional recognition/confirmation of nerve status.  Early detection of sensory change - often the earliest measurable sign of neuropathy in  hands and feet - can help enable timely and effective management and treatment. Semmes-Weinstein Monofilaments have been found to be one of the most objective instruments, if not the most objective for measuring sensibility if calibrated correctly (lengths are 38mm and diameters are correct, see references).

Timely Neuropathy Testing encourages individuals with sensory and muscle nerve changes  to see professionals for intervention and consideration of treatment to maintain maximum functional use of hands and feet and prevent progression in disability.  Adaptive splinting is a technique often used by therapists and other professionals for custom made wrist restriction splints for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome patients (CTS), and other assistive or correctional splints for clients needing tissue remodeling and correction of muscle imbalances caused by peripheral neuropathy.

Many individuals will develop peripheral nerve problems in their lifetime. Most of these are transient in nature and there is no need for intervention.  But those who develop neuropathy or direct injury and trauma to the nerves deserve at least screening to detect changes in peripheral nerve status that could perhaps be improved or restored at a stage before damage to the nerves becomes permanent.

Early nerve changes may go unnoticed, or health care professionals
may be consulted only after nerve permanent damage has already occurred.
The best chance to maintain healthy nerves is early recognition of
change in their function.

Acute or long standing problems in individuals can result in
Loss of protective sensation and unrecoverable sensory or motor (muscle) loss that affects an individual's ability to use hands and feet.  Those at risk of developing peripheral  nerve problems include individuals with diabetes and other metabolic syndromes, Hansen's disease or other etiology disease known to frequently affect the peripheral nerves, and those individuals with direct or indirect trauma and compromise of blood supply/nutrition to peripheral nerves from nerve entrapment and compression syndromes including carpal tunnel syndrome - the most frequently occurring peripheral nerve problem.  Treatment for patients with peripheral nerve problems requires large amounts of health care dollars annually.  Early intervention offers the advantages of reducing the degree and extent of peripheral nerve damage for the individual, reducing what could otherwise become life-long health care expenses, and helping individuals maintain engagement in both employment and quality of life activities.

Company Profile

Timely Neuropathy Testing  is dedicated to the idea
of early intervention of patients with peripheral nerve problems,
and prevention of loss of protective sensation.

Simple effective hand screens and foot screens were developed many years ago, beginning in the 1980's, and are now in use worldwide.  These are used by health care providers including physicians, therapists, nurses, and technicians, and can also be used by patients to document and record areas of skin, sensory, and motor (muscle) change, and help recognize when they need to seek professional guidance.
