Timely Neuropathy Testing CLEAR VISION REVEALS™ Bonding Thermoplastic Sticky uncoated CLEAR VISION REVEALS™will adhere straight to itself or another piece of thermoplastic/part of the splint. Non sticly coated CLEAR VISION REVEALS™ will adhere slight if pressed together, but comes apart when cool. This is ideal for making attachments and hinges such as a wrist hinge if one molds the splint first - lets cool, and then molds the attachment. Where a bond is desired, the uncoated material can be scratched with a fingernail slightly to interrupt the coating and make two parts adhere. Attaching Outriggers Once the base splint is molded and cooled and the outrigger fashioned, a small piece of heated (pan or heat gun) thermoplastic is placed over the outrigger attachment and molded against the splint. When cool, this will brake off. It is marked around with a ballpoint pen before braking off. Then the thermoplastic attachment piece is heated (tacky with heat gun) and the surface and the splint where the attachment is located is heated (made tacky with heat gun) and the parts placed together anchoring the outrigger or part. Care should be taken not to heat the metal part, as this will melt through the body of the splint. |
