**5.07 [orange] protective sensation 10 gram level plantar FOOT
The 10 gram level monofilament has become standard for testing protective sensation on the plantar surface of the foot  particularly in diabetic patients. (The foot generally has some callus on the plantar surface). If the 10 gram monofilament is detected the client is believed by some to have protective sensation, and if not detected to have a loss of protective sensation (see Foot Screen).
